Malaysia Day Staycation – Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort and Tanjung Sepat

DSC_7274

This year Malaysia day was celebrated at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort, located approximately 90km away from Kuala Lumpur city center and about 1 and half hour drive. First of all we would like to thank our friend, Jess for organizing this and make this long weekend road trip happened! Special invitation and a free 2 nights stay at the Family Villa, so it was hard to turn down this great offer!

Since there is no blackout dates for the reservation, we had planned to have it during this Malaysia Day long weekend, with the expectation that it could be crowded as a result of holiday season. While we were on the way to the resort, there are many dragon fruits farm and stall selling the freshly harvested along the road. The price is cheap as compare to the hypermarket due to the farmer selling themselves without going through a middle person. Decided to pick a few to quench our thirst during the stay, high in antioxidants as well!

Just like what we had expected, there was quite a huge crowd queueing for the check in. Our check in process somehow was considered fast and smooth at the premium club counter. We were then being transported to our overwater unit using the buggy service. Although the sea water is not as clean at the Straits of Melaka, however the cold chilly breeze is still nice for a short getaway and relaxes.

Overall rating for the hotel based on the room we stayed:
Bed comfort: 3 stars ★★★
Room space: 5 stars ★★★★★
Room style: wooden tropical style with dim lightings
Cleanliness: 3 stars (time for refurbishment and maintenance) ★★★
Toiletries: hotel own brand
Service: 3 stars (limited buggy during huge crowd) ★★★
Location: 4 stars ★★★★
Remarks: Overall hotel is a good location for sun lover! However many parts of the resort are due for refurbishment and maintenance to keep up the competitiveness. Also, the cleanliness of the infinity pool should always be monitored. Well, the resort is unique to be seen from top as a palm shape, so if you have a drone, do bring along!

Some of the leisure activities in the resort. (cycling, swimming, gym, etc)

As it is quite outskirt, so the next nearest township will be either Tanjung Sepat (20mins away) or Sungai Pelek. (10mins away) If you are seafood lovers, do pay Tanjung Sepat a visit as there are many local dishes of seafood at great affordable price. There are also few tourist attractions there that you can sufficiently cover in a one day tour.
