Another interesting staycation we would like to share would be our stay at Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou. It is not a city that you will frequently visit, at least not the first that would come to our mind among all other beautiful cities in China. People generally head to Guangzhou for few main reasons, business travel, participate in trade fair, sourcing of cheap distributable products, clothing and textiles trading. For us, it was just as simple as exploring the city and food.
After some research, we found that Four Seasons in Guangzhou is quite a unique one due to its latitude height and strategic view. It is actually located at the top 30 floors of the Guangzhou International Financial Center (IFC) building with a total of 103 levels, 438.6 meter sky scraper! (17th tallest building in the world as per wiki) This could be among the tallest hotel we had stayed so far. On top of that, the Guangzhou famous Canton Tower is within the sight of the building and in fact truly good views of it from the 70th floor check in lobby and possibly from the room if facing the right direction. Thus, we were quite excited for this staycation and the stay indeed did not disappoint us too.
Heading for check in at level 70th lobby.
Amazing lobby design and art works that match perfectly. I am willing to wait even for a longer check in as the lobby itself is too nice for photography. *wink*
First good news during our check in was that our room being upgraded, yay! And of course, as it was not a peak season for trade fair, we also requested for the room which is facing the Zhujiang River where the Canton Tower is right across it. Perfect view, just that it was quite hazy that time. (air quality in most of major cities in China still relatively bad) Nevertheless, we still able to enjoy the night time Canton Tower neon lightings and city lights from our room floor to ceiling window.
Enjoying our welcoming fruits and tea.
For coffee lover, illy coffee maker is available in room.
The hotel is easily accessible from the airport by taking Subway Line 3 heading south (approximately 1hour ride), and change to APM Line (approximately 5mins ride) and alight at Grand Theatre station. Hotel just few minutes’ walk away from the station.
Overall rating for the hotel based on the room we stayed:
Bed comfort: 4 stars ★★★★
Room space: 5 stars ★★★★★
Room style: modern contemporary design
Cleanliness: 4 stars ★★★★
Toiletries: L’Occitane
Service: 5 stars ★★★★★
Location: 4 stars ★★★★
Remarks: Warm welcome and courtesy with local fruits platter in the room upon check in. Hotel is near to public transportation access as the building is a financial hub. There are also plenty of street art around the hotel area for photo opportunity.
Few other highlights of the hotel would be the cloud level infinity pool, sky lit atrium and Michelin starred restaurant. Personally I love the infinity pool, amazing experience swimming at the cloud level (69th floor) with panoramic view of Guangzhou city.
